Support for people in crisis

If life feels too hard and you’re in crisis, you shouldn’t have to manage it alone. Remind yourself that you won’t feel this way forever. This page has links to urgent support and tools you can use to keep yourself safe.

If you need urgent mental health support please consider calling

  • Call 999 if can’t keep yourself or others safe.

  • Dial NHS 111, then press option 2 for urgent help.

  • Phone the Samaritans on 116 123 or visit their website.

 

Other help and support is also available, including through text and email:

  • Text ‘SHOUT’ to 85258 for free confidential mental health support

  • Call HOPELINE UK on 0800 068 41 41 or text 88247 to speak to an adviser to keep you safe from suicide

  • Worcestershire Safe Haven provides telephone support and face-to-face appointments if you’re experiencing a mental health crisis. 

  • It offers a listening ear and support, along with guidance on accessing other services.

Via: a charity offering free, confidential support to adults and young people with issues around alcohol and drug use. We’re part of a journey, and everyone’s journey is different.

Young Persons - Here4YOUth (<18)

 

Here for Youth is an alcohol and drug service working with young people in Worcestershire. They offer support and information and help young people to develop life skills to make healthy choices around their alcohol and drug use.

Here4YOUth provides:

  • Free and confidential advice and support

  • Safe environment for you

  • Information about alcohol and drugs

  • Information about how you can reduce the harm you might be doing to yourself

  • One-to-one support to look at things you might like to change

  • Support for anyone who is affected by your drug or alcohol use

  • Referral to other agencies if needed

Speech and language therapists work in partnership with children, their families and other professionals in a variety of friendly setting including;

  • Family Hubs: Every Starting Well Partnership Family Hub has a named speech and language therapist.

  • Child development centres: Speech and language therapists are part of the team

  • Schools: Every mainstream school has a named speech and language therapist who visits.

Dementia support 

Worcestershire Young Onset Dementia Services

 

Worcestershire Admiral Nurse Service with Worcestershire Health & Social Care NHS Trust

Admiral Nurses provide the specialist dementia support that families need. They work in the community, in care homes, in hospices and hospitals. The service accepts referrals for all who reside in Worcestershire or are registered with a Worcestershire GP. 

​

To access this service the person with dementia and the family carer can contact:

 

Become a Dementia Friend

Dementia friend is a volunteer who encourages others to make a positive difference to people living with dementia in their community. They do this by giving them information about the personal impact of dementia, and what they can do to help.

​

The service is available between 9am-5:00pm Monday - Friday.
